How to Remove Facebook Account from Other Devices

Facebook is a central hub for communication, content sharing, and social interaction. However, there may be times when you log in to your account on a friend’s device, a public computer, or a new phone—and forget to log out. For your privacy and account security, it’s important to know how to remove your Facebook account from other devices. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you do just that.

Why You Should Remove Your Account from Unused Devices

Leaving your account logged in on multiple devices can be a security risk. If someone gains access, they can view your private messages, post content, or even change your account settings. Regularly checking and managing where your account is logged in helps you stay in control.

Method 1: Using the Facebook App (Mobile)

  1. Open the Facebook app on your phone.

  2. Tap the three horizontal lines (☰) in the bottom right (iOS) or top right (Android).

  3. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then select Settings.

  4. Tap Password and Security.

  5. Under the Where You're Logged In section, you'll see a list of devices.

  6. Tap See all to view all active sessions.

  7. Find the device(s) you want to log out of.

  8. Tap the three dots next to the session and select Log Out.

Tip: If you don’t recognize a device or location, log it out immediately and consider changing your password.

Method 2: Using Facebook on a Web Browser (Desktop)

  1. Go to facebook.com and log in.

  2. Click your profile picture in the top right corner and select Settings & Privacy > Settings.

  3. In the left-hand menu, click Security and Login.

  4. Under Where You're Logged In, you’ll see all devices currently logged in.

  5. Click See More to expand the list.

  6. Click the three vertical dots next to any session and choose Log Out.

Method 3: Log Out of All Devices

If you're concerned your account is accessed in multiple places and you want a fresh start:

On Mobile:

  • In the Where You’re Logged In section, scroll to the bottom and tap Log Out of All Sessions.

On Desktop:

  • Click Log Out of All Sessions at the bottom of the login activity list.

Important: Logging out of all sessions will immediately end access on every device except the one you’re currently using. You’ll need to log back in on devices you still want to use.

Extra Tip: Enable Two-Factor Authentication

For added security, enable two-factor authentication. It requires a code sent to your phone or app to complete the login process.

  1. Go to Settings > Password and Security.

  2. Tap Two-Factor Authentication.

  3. Choose your preferred security method (SMS or authentication app).

  4. Follow the instructions to activate.
