Transport fares have been increased arbitrarily following the rise in prices of petroleum products

The increase in fares for public and goods transport has added to the hardships of the people

 

Islamabad (Info Point latest news. November 08, 2021):Transporters in many cities have also increased fares following the rise in prices of petroleum products. The increase in public and goods transport fares in different cities of the country has further aggravated the plight of the people. On the other hand, after the increase in the prices of Pakistani petrol in Quetta, the price of smuggled Iranian petrol also increased.

Iranian petrol available in Quetta at Rs 120 per liter has reached Rs 140 per liter but the administration is not ready to take any action against illegal petrol. It may be recalled that the government increased the prices of petroleum products in the dark of night and this decision of the government came a day after the relief package given by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

 

The new petrol price has been increased Rs 8 to Rs 145. According to the notification of the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 8.3. The price of high speed diesel has been increased by Rs 8.14 paise, after which its new price has been increased by Rs 142.62 paise. The price of kerosene has been increased by Rs 6.27 paise to Rs 116.53 paise. The new price of diesel oil increased by Rs5.72 to Rs114.07.

It may be recalled that a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on November 6 against the increase in prices of petroleum products. The petition was filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate. OGRA and others including the federal government were made parties in the petition. The petitioner took the position that the increase in the prices of petroleum products is illegal. The petition also sought annulment of the prices of petroleum products.
